Hi!!! My name is Gaby.
My nationality is Mexican but I was born in Vancouver, Canada. Although we moved when I was around 2 years to Mexico.  Growing up I was a curious child, I wandered around a lot in and out of the house and the only thing that would keep me put was watching cartoons and playing video games. My parents would often take my brother and I to museums where we would learn about famous painters like Leonardo Da Vinci, Michelangelo and Frida Kahlo. The first artist that I looked up to was Da Vinci. I think it was his duality between science and art that really grabbed me. The curiosity to know and emulate real life. By the time I was 13 ish and back in Canada. I wanted to become a biologist, but I still had a fascination for art. I didn't draw much but I enjoyed it whenever I did. I just religiously kept watching Disney and Pixar movies, cartoons and anime. It wasn't until grade 10 that I considered Animation as a career opportunity. It had never crossed my mind before that. I slowly started to lean towards Art and Animation but it was Cap's 2D Animation program that sealed the deal. It opened my eyes to all the artists behind some of my favorite movies. It also gave me the chance to challenge myself as I was surrounded by people with way more experience than I had and make new friends that I could work with and learn from.
With 3 years of experience in the Animation industry. I am a diligent worker that prioritizes communication and coordination, who readily adapts to changing circumstances in fast paced working environments.
During my time in the animation industry I have covered both artist and production roles. My experience has given me a strong understanding of the many facets that allow a show to function. I’m an open and eager learner of new skills that will allow me to better support my team and bring me closer to my long-term goal of landing a role of storyboard artist.
